Saskatchewan
I am working on a travelogue for the blog, but figured a quick update was in order. Saskatoon is a very pretty town. The people here are very friendly. Rents here are much higher than I anticipated. Saskatchewan's economic boom has the speculator's speculating and the people with no actual stake in that boom are trying to find their own angle in. Happened in the Lower Mainland of BC in 2005 after it was announced that BC would host the Olympics.
Anyhow, Geo and J are great and their cats are quite quirky. I am off to hunt for work.

Huh? Rents went up in Saskatoon because B.C. was hosting the Olympics? How does that work?
I corrected the post, it should have indicated that I was talking about the Lower mainland in 2005.
Here it is just the resource based economic boom. said boom will probably go bust as I think the Saskatchewan Party is just like every other so-called pro-business party. They will proabably whore out Saskatchewan's resources (a la BC and Alberta with logging and coal) to anyone for a quick return, rather being smart with them the way Newfoundland's Danny Williams is.
OH they're whoring them out all right. Why be stewards when you can make some quick cash? The boom has to bust eventually, it just has snuck up out of nowhere and pretty much doubled house prices here...and people here can be greedy. Hopefully they'll sell their houses for $$ and go somewhere else and leave us all here in peace.
