This Day in History

On June 27th 1905 Russian sailors mutinied against their oppressive commanders on the Battleship Potempkin, which some say was the first step towards the Russian Revolution of 1917.
On June 27th 1884, Mormonism's founder, Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were murdered in a jail in Carthage, Illinois. If only their religion had died with them.
On June 27th 1893, the New York Stock Exchange crashed.
Other events can be read about at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_27
I share my birthday with Charles Stewart Parnell, Captain Kangaroo, Emma Goldman, Helen Keller, Paul von Mauser, Krzysztof Kieślowski and Spider-Man. (aka Tobey Maguire)

That one day Communism shall free us from the shackles of the world-wide Mormon conspiracy perpetuated by the likes of Helen Keller and Captain Kangaroo. That Tobey Maguire shall pick up the torch dropped by Emma Goldman and Charlie Parnell and liberate all of humanity.
Let Freedom Reign.

The poster reads: "Our motto: freedom for all people. Glory to the national heroes of Potemkin!"
BTW Helen Keller was a socialist.

I passed the San Francisco scientology centre. It is beautiful It is two blocks down, on Columbus Ave, from City Lights books. I think that would make Jack Kerouac a Scientologist, wouldn't you say? They say he was Catholic, but Po-Tay-Toe...Po-Tot-Toe, you know...
